Student Goal Setting Worksheets for Success

These student goal setting worksheets focus you on what is important.

Being a student means that you have to juggle many demands on your time - paid work, a social life, sporting commitments, or study.

It can be difficult to focus on your priorities and achieve your grades. Having a busy life that pulls you in many directions means that it is important that you set priorities, plan your work, and then work your plan.

Knowing what you are going to achieve as a student, why you want to achieve it, and how you are going to achieve it is the art of goal setting.

Setting goals is more that having a vision of what you want to achieve as a student. It involves a clearly articulated, step-by-step approach, that can't rely on memory.

Your goals and the way that you are going to achieve them needs to be written down.

  1. Use one worksheet for each student goal that you want to achieve.
  2. Write this goal in the first row. Try to make this goal as specific as possible. One of the best ways to write goals is to set SMART goals.
  3. Then write the 5 actions that you need to do to achieve this goal. If you were to think the goal that you set as the top of the staircase, these 5 actions are the steps that you need to take to reach that goal.
  4. Write down the strategies that you need to use to achieve these actions
  5. Write down the specific dates to do each of these actions.

Once you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve this year/semester then you can plan and prioritize into your academic student planner.

This academic student planner gives you the overview of what your semester looks like.

BUT this is not end of setting goals!

As a student, you need to make your long term goals a daily habit of success. To do this there are two things you can do:

  1. ensure some of your actions in the worksheet are in your weekly plan
  2. makes sure that you master to do list always has some of those important to dos from the above student worksheet.
